Google Chrome is a fast and sleek browser, but it can be even better with the use of extensions. The challenge for recruiters is determining which extensions will truly enhance their workflow and not fall into the trap of trying out every new shiny tool.

When I review a new tool I answer these questions:

  • What’s the use case?
  • What’s the return on investment – ROI?
  • How much does it cost?
  • Is it an ethical practice?

Here’s 10 Extension Tools that will BOOST your Recruiting Productivity

1. LastPass

You can use LastPass to store all of your passwords in one place and even log into your accounts at the click of a button. Secure passwords are obviously critical these days, but since the most secure passwords are so hard to remember, LastPass can be a real time saver. It also helps discourage you from using the same password everywhere, which is a major security flaw.

2. Evernote Web Clipper

This extension allows you to “clip” chunks of text and web pages so that you can read them at a later time. This is especially helpful if you always find interesting things to read in the middle of work and you hate breaking your focus but also tend to forget about them later. Plus, this extension is good for research, too.

3. Save to Pocket

If you don’t like Evernote, Pocket is a good alternative and it even makes suggestions about additional content you might like based on what you save. It works a lot like Evernote Web Clipper, allowing you to save content you want to read later or look back to. It’s great for web research and the mobile and desktop versions all sync together.

4. FoxClocks

If you need to keep up with the times, FoxClock is a beautiful and simple extension to do so. This extension gives you a world clock in your browser’s status bar, and you can customize it to show you the time anywhere in the world. It’s a simple idea with brilliant execution.

5. The Great Suspender

Have tabs open that you don’t want to close but aren’t using? This extension allows you to suspend any tabs that you aren’t using so that you have more RAM. That means better performance no matter what device you happen to be working from.

6. Tab Wrangler

If you are in the habit of leaving a bunch of pages open, Tab Wrangler can help you keep on top of things and avoid slow performance or an outright device crash by closing inactive tabs after a certain amount of time has gone by. All of the tabs that get closed are saved in the “corral” of Tab Wrangler’s interface, so you can re-open them at any time.

7. Full Page Screen Capture

Need to grab a whole page? This extension does it. It’s truly that simple, and you already know how often it can come in handy. Just use Alt+Shift+P. It’s simple yet effect tool that  capture important web pages quickly.

8. Pushbullet

No more missing messages or notifications. This extension allows you to receive and send messages directly from Chrome and even get call notifications within your browser. So, no more smartphone distractions and no more missing important calls.

9. Stylish

This unique extension allows you to customize the color schemes of the web pages you visit. That can make them easier to remember if you viewed the web page from weeks to months back. When you have a million tabs open at once it’s a good way to color code a page.

10. Adblock Plus

Stop wasting time with ads by using this extension to block tracking cookies and ads on your device. It will improve speed and increase your privacy in the process. This also helps me to stay less distracted when I’m sourcing throughout my day.
