Ultimate List of Sourcing Tools to Recruit Tech Talent Online

Whether you’re looking for programmers, designers, engineers, developers, or just IT pros you need to have the right tools and knowledge to find the best. As a Tech Sourcer myself – I find the need to manage my sourcing and research time efficiently. I’ve put together a list of productivity tools, social networks, Boolean string hacks, and writing tools to help you find and recruit tech candidates online.

 

Productivity and Automation Tools:

Blockspring – This tool connects different API’s together to help automate certain tasks.

PhantomBuster – Primarily used for marketing automation. There’s a plenty of integrations that allow you to automate various tasks.

Zapier – Is the glue that connects over 1,000+ web apps. These apps connect together to trigger an event. You can use these pre-built zaps to automate mundane recruitment tasks.

IFTTT – Is a free web-based service to create chains of simple conditional statements, called (applets) recipes. These recipes help to automate different tasks. You can use these recipes to automate different recruitment activities.

Airtable – Is a spreadsheet database hybrid tool. It combines the features of a database applied to a spreadsheet and just like IFTTT or Zapier you can link other tools or data to work with each other.

Google Alerts – Basically, you can subscribe to your keyword search directly on Google. As soon as something new gets posted online you will receive an update directly in your email inbox.

Pomodoro Assistant – Track your overall searching time with this extension. Use this to stay focused and organized throughout your day. This tool comes highly recommended by Sarah Goldberg.

 

Social Networks and Forums:

Reddit – Treat this more like a forum site. There’s plenty of sub-reddits to explore and learn more about niche industries. Some of my favorites: r/WebDev, r/Frontend, r/AskProgramming, r/LearnProgramming, & r/Coding. 

Slack – Is a community / community messaging network. You can use this to source and recruit tech talent online.

Facebook – Is the largest untapped social network online today! It’s a fantastic place to source and recruit leads from.

Stack OverFlow – Is  a question and answer site for professional and enthusiast programmers

GitHub – A places for coders to share open-source software projects online. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to find developers online.

Meetup – Use this to attend different network events in your area. I’ve been able to attend many tech meetups in the past: Xamarin, DevOps, and SAP meetup networking groups.

Good Reads – Great place to source profile information. You can find user data based off what they are currently reading. You can xray for user profiles i.e.: site:goodreads.com/user/show “java”

 

Boolean:

RecruitEm – Is a Boolean generator tool. It’s very simple and easy to use.

BOOL Extension – Create and save strings with this browser extension. Honestly, it’s one of my favorites in this space.

SourceHub – Build and save different strings with this website based tool.

Hiretual “Boolean Builder” – Build a job description or intake requirements into this tool and it will instantly create a Boolean string. It’s been far the best generator tool online and it’s free.

 

Writing Tools:

GlossaryTech – This app allows users to quickly see definitions of tech-related keywords. I’ve used this app to quickly understand different types of tech skill-sets.

Grammarly – Is an online grammar checking, spell checking, and plagiarism detection platform.

Joblint – Test job descriptions or recruiter templates for issues with sexism, culture, expectations, and recruiter fails.

DeepSense – Helps understand a candidates persona with the help of AI. You can then use this intel to understand how you’ll conduct your outreach i.e phone call, email, social, or text etc. 

Textio – This tool unlocks the language that engages them, using real-world hiring outcomes from millions of job posts and recruiting emails.

Crystal Knows – This tool helps you understand a candidates persona and how to engage them over email.

HumanPredictions: This tool will compile a list of data points on any potential candidate online.

Bunch.ai: With the help of AI this tool pulls together a list of attributes based on the candidates social media presence.
