The Best IFTTT Recipes for Recruiting

As a Talent Sourcer, my internet tabs and search history would appear chaotic due to the constant multitasking of searching, prospecting, and screening leads. However, with the fast-paced nature of the job, it is easy for things to slip through the cracks, such as forgetting to update candidates or losing passive leads. To combat this, I researched ways to automate mundane tasks and discovered IFTTT, a tool that can streamline processes and improve efficiency. I have been actively using its various recipes and have seen a significant improvement in my workflow.

IFTTT is a free web-based service to create chains of simple conditional statements, called (applets) recipes. These recipes help to automate different tasks. You can use these recipes to automate different recruitment activities. I encourage you to play around with these different recipes and figure out which ones work best for your needs. These tools will truly impact the way you automate certain recruitment and talent sourcing duties.

Here are 5 different recipes to use to consider using for recruiting:

1. New LinkedIn contacts in a Google Drive spreadsheet.

Use this to keep track of new leads in Google Drive. You can treat this like your own personal CRM.

2. Send new contacts a “Nice to meet you!” email.

This is a great way to automate a quick introduction email after you’ve met someone at a networking event.

3. Save contacts added to a Google Contacts group as a subscriber to a list in MailChimp.

Use this to create a networking mailchimp email list. I use this to send out monthly (new opportunities) email at my company. Use this to keep leads warm and help build an active talent pipeline.

4. Save caller’s contact info each time I receive a call.

Receive a lot of calls during the day? This one helps you track your daily calls and uploads them to Google drive.

5. Create a calendar item to follow-up in a week when a new contact is added.

This one’s great for creating a weekly a (business development) reminder of who to follow up with. You can treat this as your own personal sales assistant.
