Review of ZAPInfo’s Extension Scraping Tool

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with Doug Berg, the creator of ZAPinfo, and received a live demonstration of the tool. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the features and integrations that ZAPinfo offers. In my opinion, it is one of the best scraping tools available for sourcers to use. As a result, I would like to share my thoughts and provide a comprehensive review of this tool on my blog.

What is Zapinfo?

Basically, it allows you to scrape any website or social site for user’s data. You can then use the tool to enrich for contact details. Once you have that info you can then export it directly into your ATS or CRM. It’s honestly an all in one type of tool that integrates everything from scraping, to finding contact information, to exporting the data. Below is everything ZAPinfo offers:

1. ZAP contact info or lists from most sites

When on any persons resume, social profile, or basic contact information you can Zap data out into your clipboard, and it will intelligently extract the data into separate field’s name, company, job title, experiences, etc. You can basically ZAP multiple contracts on nearly any site online. It’s nearly endless on the scraping possibilities. Some sites that I had great success with scraping were LinkedIn, Facebook, GitHub, and Meetup.

2. Enrich info and find email addresses and social profiles

After Zapping contacts, Zap will instantly enrich any contact by trying to find their email address & social profile information. It’s integrated with the latest contact searching tools like: ContactOut, Pipl, TruePeopleSearch. You can also right-click on a leads name and search directly on indeed or on Google.

3. ZAP info into any application with 1-click

Once you’ve Zapped data out of any site, you can Zap it right into your CRM, ATS, Recruitment Marketing, or other web-based apps with 1-click. It’s a simple all-in-one solution. There’s a lot of scraping tools do not do a good job of integrating with other recruiting technologies. Thankfully, ZAPinfo has this capability! You can also scrape data and directly export it to a CSV. file.

Overall, ZAPinfo is a fantastic tool that scrapes the web and helps find contact info from several tool resources. You can then easily export that data into an ATS/CRM or CSV file. I’ve been playing around with this tool for about a month. I would say it’s one of the best scraping tools on the market right now. I recommend requesting a demo with the team at ZAPinfo. They will allow you to play around on your own with this extension with a one-week trial.

Update: Unfortunately Zapinfo was purchased by Indeed in 2020

Update from 2023: ZAPinfo is a browser extension and mobile app that is designed to help recruiters and sourcers streamline their sourcing process on various job boards and professional networks, including Indeed. It allows users to extract and organize candidate information from various sources, such as resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and job postings. The tool also includes features such as automated messaging, email finding, and note-taking. It aims to make the sourcing process more efficient and effective by automating repetitive tasks and providing a centralized location for candidate data.
